Within the International Conference on Bio-inspired Systems and Signal Processing - BIOSIGNALS 2013

Jordi Solé-Casals
University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia
Brief Bio
Jordi Solé-Casals received the Ph. D. degree with European label in 2000, and the B.Sc. degree in Telecommunications in 1995, both from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, Spain. In 1994 he joined the Department of Digital and Information Technologies of the University of Vic, where he is currently associate Professor. He is the Head of the Data and Signal Processing Research Group and maintains active collaborations with many international research groups. He was Visiting Research with the Gipsa-Lab in Grenoble (France), LABSP-RIKEN in Tokyo (Japan) and BMU in Cambridge (United Kingdom). Currently, he continues these relations with these laboratories. His research interests are in neurosciences, biometrics, statistical signal processing, machine learning, neural networks, source separation and independent component analysis.
Carlos M. Travieso
University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Brief Bio
Carlos M. Travieso-González received the M.Sc. degree in 1997 in Telecommunication Engineering at Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Spain; and Ph.D. degree in 2002 at University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC-Spain). He is an Associate Professor from 2001 in ULPGC, teaching subjects on signal processing and learning theory. His research lines are biometrics, biomedical signals, data mining, classification system, signal and image processing, and environmental intelligence. He has researched in more than 33 International and Spanish Research Projects, some of them as head researcher. He is co-author of 2 books, co-editor of 4 Proceedings Book, Guest Editor for two international journals and up to 12 book chapters. He has over 170 papers published in international journals and conferences. He has been reviewer in different international journals and conferences since 2001. He is member of IASTED Technical Committee on Image Processing from 2007 and member of IASTED Technical Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems from 2011. He will be INES 2013 General Chair, and was NoLISP 2011 General Chair, JRBP 2012 General Chair and Co-Chair on 39th Annual 2005 IEEE International Carnahan Conference on Security Technology. He was Vice-Dean from 2004 to 2010 in Higher Technical School of Telecommunication Engineers in ULPGC.

Biometric systems have been widely and mainly studied for its use in security applications. Nowadays, other applications, as biomedicine, psychology and/or forensic applications are using biometric information in order to get innovation and better successes.
Most of the today solutions however operate on different methods. The use of Multivariate Processing can reach specialized systems to provide possible best conditions for image processing.

Topics cover all biometric modalities, and multimodal systems, using any kind of sensor or range of acquisition:

› Face
› Fingerprint
› Signature and Handwritten
› Iris
› Geometry Hand, Palm Print, Knuckle, Vein Hand
› Voice
› etc…

Presentations of new methods of multivariable processing are particularly welcomed, for instance:

› Multimodal Approach
› Age Detection
› Forensic Applications
› Biomedical and Psychology Applications in New Paradigms
› etc…

The invited speakers are expected to present novel results.

Prospective authors are invited to submit papers in any of the topics listed above.
Instructions for preparing the manuscript (in Word and Latex formats) are available at: Paper Templates
Please also check the Guidelines.
Papers must be submitted electronically via the web-based submission system using the appropriated button on this page.

After thorough reviewing by the special session program committee, all accepted papers will be published in a special section of the conference proceedings book - under an ISBN reference and on digital support - and submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI/ISI), DBLP, EI (Elsevier Engineering Village Index), Scopus, Semantic Scholar and Google Scholar.
SCITEPRESS is a member of CrossRef (http://www.crossref.org/) and every paper is given a DOI (Digital Object Identifier).
All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library
